I’m Fred Simon and honored to run for re-election to the San Leandro City Council in November 2024.
Living in San Leandro for 27 years with my wife and two children, I know the strengths of our community and the challenges we face. As your vice-mayor and councilmember running for re-election, I will continue to improve public safety, quality of life, economic opportunities, infrastructure, and access to housing. My 25-year career as an engineer, Stanford education, and city council service provides me with experience to continue working on the challenges facing San Leandro. I began public service as a senior commissioner, and will continue supporting San Leandro becoming age friendly where seniors can age in place surrounded by intergenerational support. I will continue to invest in 1) Public Safety – expand programs to reduce crime; 2) Quality of Life – expand senior services, mental health initiatives, and arts; 3) Economic Opportunities – attract businesses and job creation; 4) Infrastructure – upgrade roads and parks; 5) Housing & Homelessness – increase housing options and support services. In my first term, I tackled crime by adding cameras and safety ambassadors, championed a navigation center to provide housing and services, and implemented park and road improvements. Together with endorsements by California Attorney General Rob Bonta and the Sierra Club, please vote to re-elect Fred Simon.
